Popular TED Conference comes to Vancouver
Last month Vancouver Gadgets told you about some upcoming technology conferences that might be of interest. Vancouver’s technology industry received a significant shot in the arm on Monday when it was announced that the popular TED conference would be held here in 2014 and 2015.
TED
The conference is one of the world’s most popular events about technology, entertainment and design (thus, TED). The phenomenon of TED has generated regional conferences such as TEDxVancouver, held here last year. Firms such as Vision Critical and Hootsuite have already lent commentary and support to hosting this event in Vancouver and such companies only stand to benefit from increased interest as a result of TED.
Digital Strategy Conference Vancouver
Vancouver will also the first Digital Strategy Conference this April. This inaugural conference will see marketers, communicators, sales and service managers get strategic with all things digital. Taking placed at April 23-25, 2013 UBC ROBSON SQUARE, Ottawa will also host this conference beginning June 3 and running through June 5 2013.

Vancouver Social Media Awards
The first ever Vancouver Social Media Awards is scheduled to happen on March 28, 2013 at the Roundhouse Community Centre to recognize local talent in Vancouver’s social media community.
Online voting began on January 10th 2013 and continues through February 21st 2013. Once the finalists have been reduced to three candidates for each category, an industry panel selects a winner for each category. The winners will be announced on March 28th 2013.

I heard that the TED event has a large pricetag for individual attendance. Shouldn’t this event be more easily available to the public?
That’s a good point. The Tedex Conference which we just posted about is March 16th and the idea behind that conference is to attract people to a scaled down conference which is a bit more affordable. Tickets are 100$ we believe. However there are only 100 available!
